I think by the name of this blog, you’d know I’m a Harry Potter fan. So yeah, I pretty much get updates on what going on in “the Wizarding world.”
After the fiasco where JK Rowling and Warner Brothers (WB) were reported to have tried to sue an Indian group for their replica of Hogwarts intended for a non-profit religious celebration, Rowling dropped another bombshell on her recent NYC book tour: Dumbledore was gay. Other revelations included Neville Longbottom marrying Hannah Abbott and what Petunia Dursley wanted to tell Harry before they parted ways in Book 7.
I’ll be honest. I have great respect for Rowling (she is, after all, one of my favorite writers), but after these two consecutive events, I can’t help but wonder if this was all done for publicity and money. Read the rest of this entry »

Mysticism is very predominant here in the Philippines, especially in the provinces. But the most popular for mysticism and magic (sometimes even black magic) is Sequijor, an island in Region VII.
I first read about Sequijor in a book by Jimmy Licauco, a Filipino writer famous for his research on the supernatural. I remember something about him saying that Sequijor is probably the island in the Philippines where mysticism is most prevalent. He told stories of an albularyo (I think the most appropriate English translation to that is “witch doctor”, though I’m not too sure), agimat (talisman), and nature spirits just to name a few. There are also a lot of faith healers in that island, but you’ll need to be careful and discern the genuine from those who are just after your money. Read the rest of this entry »

“A totally non-magical person’s blog on Magic and Fantasy”
I couldn’t have picked a better blog description than that. I’m as non-magical as anybody could get (whipping up spells and potions can only come true in my imagination), but I can sometimes do magic in a metaphorical sense. With a computer, that is. I’m a web designer by profession (and a blogger on the side). Whatever magic I can do is limited to just that.
I like reading, watching, and hearing about magic, fantasy, and the supernatural. These keep me inspired. I don’t know why, but there’s just something about these topics that help me get into creative mode. So that’s why I started this blog, where I can talk about anything to do with magic, fantasy, and anything out of the ordinary. Read the rest of this entry »
